INTRODUCING PATKAI

The College Defined:

Patkai as a Christian liberal arts college firmly believes that education is for the whole man in a framework of spiritual and moral absolutes. Every Christian college, therefore, has the difficult task of retaining its traditional stance while seeking to make its educational philosophy relevant to the world around it.

Committed to the principle that the truth is revealed by God through Christ "in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Col. 2:3), Patkai Christian College will seek to relate its instruction to the needs of contemporary society. The College will consciously seek to place all of its activity within the framework of a Biblical perspective on such critical issues as the nature of God, man, nature, and the world.

The central purpose of the College is expressed in its motto: "Lux et veritas: Light and Truth." The founders of the College maintain that academic excellence and Biblical Christian faith and practice are essential to a meaningful and purposeful life.

Patkai will consciously seek to aid the student in developing habits which will contribute to his well-being -- physical, psychological, and spiritual -- and which will enable him to participate constructively in community and church life.

Goals and Objectives:

The educational goals and objectives of the College have been:

To impart biblical value-based education, indispensable for ideal citizenship.
To inculcate in the student the habit of analytical and creative thinking.
To teach knowledge and demonstrate its use as an instrument for social and economic change.
To create and inspire a wholesome attitude for service in society.
To provide wholesome spiritual and moral environment in which to pursue education.
To produce future leadership in the Church and in society at large.

The immediate goals of the College are:

Introduction of M.A. course in Philosophy; bachelor's degree in “Western-Church-Ethno” Music, and additional courses in vocational education.

The College's long-term plans include: Making efforts toward becoming a “deemed university” in the near future; developing the Indo-Myanmar Research Center into a full-fledged Tribal Research Center, development of a School of Theology, and development of a full-fledged School of Music.
